AMT 780 1963 Studebaker Avanti Plastic Model Kit. Detailed 1/25 kit of Studebaker's innovative 4 passenger high-performance car. Introduced in April of 1962 the Studebaker Avanti was designed by noted industrial designer Raymond Loewy. It was the first American car to offer front disc brakes as standard equipment and was only the second to use a fiberglass body (the Corvette was first). Despite its technical innovation it was a poor seller and production ended in late December 1963 with only 1200 cars produced. The rights to the name and tooling were sold to several different groups that have tried to put the car back into production.
